Vision Survey is now open!

THANK YOU to all those who came to the Open House on Wednesday, October 28th! We had a great turnout at the South Irving Library with 60 participants. We received valuable and insightful feedback from the community, and we are very excited to continue moving forward with the Comprehensive Plan. We will have a draft Comprehensive Plan for the community to review in early 2016.

In the meantime, take the Vision Survey! Get involved in Irving's future by answering a few questions that will help the city set priorities. We want to know what early steps the city can take to accomplish each of the Vision goals. Your feedback will help us prioritize goals and strategies for a better Irving!

If you're not familiar with the Vision or need a refresher, you can explore each of the eight vision goals on the Vision page.

Neighborhood Workshops

More than 200 people joined in planning the future of Irving during three neighborhood workshops last week. Attendees brought great ideas and a high level of enthusiasm for imagining the future of Irving. The ideas and input received during these workshops will be used to form the recommendations of the Imagine Irving Comprehensive Plan Update.

We extend a big thank you to everyone who joined the workshops. If you couldn’t make it, it’s not too late! Go to the Events page to take a short online survey and tell us your ideas for the future of Irving (the survey is also available in Spanish). In what way would you like to see Irving improve in the next 20 years?

Public Workshops Focus on Future of City: Residents Invited to Help Plan Irving’s Future

(IRVING, TEXAS) – All Irving residents have a unique opportunity to work with City officials and others to decide the future of Irving and to be part of history-in-the-making during two public citywide workshops on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. There will be two sessions available, one from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the other from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Irving Convention Center, 500 West Las Colinas Blvd. Free parking is available in the parking garage adjacent to the Center. Light refreshments will be provided.

All Irving residents are invited to attend and participate in these fun, interactive workshops and be part of creating the foundation for a new long-range plan for the city. “Imagine Irving,” the comprehensive plan update process, will guide many of the most important decisions related to how we grow in the future, helping us create a more diverse, vibrant and livable city.

This is an exciting time for city residents to define their vision for the Irving of the future. These hands-on workshops are just two of many opportunities residents will have to participate in the process.

The City of Irving is working with Fregonese Associates, a team of nationally recognized, leading experts on long-range community planning and visioning. John Fregonese, head consultant, will lead the workshops, with assistance from local volunteer facilitators. Both workshops will cover the same questions and feature the same speakers and schedule, so residents should choose the session that is most convenient to their schedule.

At the workshop, participants will gather in small groups to build their own map-based vision for Irving that outlines future development strategies for the city, including locations for homes, jobs, transit and open spaces. John Fregonese will introduce the activity with a presentation entitled “Irving of the Future: The Choice is Yours!” prior to the start of the group activity.

No registration is needed to attend these events.

About the Imagine Irving Comprehensive Plan Update

Imagine Irving is a community-wide planning project that will examine current development and economic trends through an inclusive citizen engagement process. In addition, the project will develop a vision for how Irving residents want the city to grow over the next 20 to 30 years and put an implementation plan in place to achieve this shared vision. By updating the comprehensive plan, city officials, citizens and business owners will be able to reference a framework for development that allows for more uniform, timely and coordinated decisions and policies.
